She began her career in the beauty industry  as the Associate Beauty Editor of ESSENCE Magazine, next she was the founding editor of SOPHISTICATE'S BLACK HAIR STYLES AND CARE GUIDE.  Ms. de Joseph went on to work for the largest Black hair product manufacturer, Johnson Products Company.  Here are the ten most asked questions and her answers.

1.  How can I get my hair to grow faster?

Hair growth is determined by heredity.  Most people will have about 1/2 inch of hair growth a month but some a little less, and some a little more.  Our hair may grow faster during the warm weather months and slower in the winter. Hormones can have an effect on hair growth as well as your general health and medications.  There is no natural way to speed hair growth up but you can help your body to produce healthier hair through eating a balanced diet, taking vitamins and minerals, exercising and living in a harmonious way.

We have three formulas in The African Wonders Hair Products line that were designed to stimulate hair follicles to promote hair growth.  The PRE-TREAT SHAMPOO deep cleans the scalp removing dandruff, dirt and build up of hair products allowing it to breath and produce healthy hair.  The HYDROLYZER Moisturizing Conditioner stimulates the scalp bringing blood flow to the follicles where hair growth begins.  And the EHO Essential Hair Oil is massaged into the temples and scalp to heal abrasions and leave the scalp in optimum condition for healthy hair growth.

2.  How can I get long hair?

The length your hair grows is also determined by genetic factors.   The straighter the hair is the longer it will grow.  Most people of African decent tend to have shorter hair than Caucasians and Asians because their hair breaks more easily.  The best way to get your hair to grow long, is to take care of it. Keeping the hair strong and moisturized is the key.  Avoiding harsh chemicals, excessive heat and rough hairstyling techniques will allow the hair to flourish.  I developed the African Wonders line to strengthen the hair and keep it moisturized so it will grow long.

The RECOVERY TREATMENT is a hair bonding mask that will strengthen the protein chains in you hair.  Follow with the Hydrolyzer to put the moisture balance back then massage your scalp with the EHO ESSENTIAL HAIR OIL and rub the PSB Pure Shea Butter into your ends daily to prevent breakage.  This combination will give you maximum length.

Do I have to cut all my hair off to get rid of a chemical hair relaxer?

You don't have to cut all your hair off.  Most people experience breakage at the point where the two textures of hair meet.  The best way to transition out of a chemical is to keep your hair well conditioned and moisturized.

To keep your hair moisturized and strong,  use the African Wonders HYDROLYZER Moisturizing Conditioner and RECOVERY TREATMENT .   You can use the HAIR REFORMER on your new growth to keep your hair smooth and prevent breakage where the two textures meet.  The ESSENTIAL HAIR OIL  and PSB PURE SHEA butter will keep the hair strands flexible so they don't break.
